Recap
Rosol came flying out of the blocks and broke Nadal in the fourth game of the match despite the 14-time Grand Slam champion having been 30-0 up.
He then held serve for 4-1, producing some truly excellent tennis to take complete control of the set, per Tennis TV:
Nadal looked noticeably shell-shocked, and he double-faulted to concede another break of serve, before Rosol sealed the set in under 25 minutes.
There was little respite for the No. 3 seed, as Rosol broke him again in the opening game of the third set.
He could barely get a look in on Rosol's serve, as the 30-year-old's consistency allowed Nadal few chances to break back.

However, when he finally did get his opportunity—when Rosol was serving for the match—Nadal claimed a crucial break to level at 5-5. He then forced a decider by taking the second set 7-5 with another break of serve.
All the momentum was with Nadal at that point, and he picked up an early break to rush into a 3-0 lead. Impressively, though, Rosol refused to crumble, and drew level at 4-4 before forcing a tiebreak.
An early mini-break from the Czech handed him the initiative. But Nadal managed to power his way back into the match, and he eventually sealed a remarkably tough victory, per Tennis TV:
Meanwhile, Mannarino fought back impressively from a set down to claim his spot in the second round after a 145-minute clash against Troicki.
The Serbian prevailed 6-4 in the opener, but Mannarino forced a decider when he claimed a well-timed break of serve to take the second 7-5. Two breaks of serve each saw the third set go to a tiebreak, which the Frenchman then claimed convincingly to win the match.
Haase looked to have all the momentum in his clash with Thiem, as he took the opening set 6-0. However, Thiem impressively bounced back, winning the second set on a tiebreak and the third 7-5 to secure his spot in the next round.
In the final match of the day, Donald Young prevailed in three sets over Swiss player Henri Laaksonen. The American was forced into a decider by Laaksonen after winning the opening set 6-2.
But Young kept his nerve and crucially claimed two breaks in the final set to seal his victory in just over 90 minutes.
