Rahyme Johnson, 4-Star UCLA Commit, Allegedly Put Icy Hot on Opponent's Face
This high school football season has been marred by violent incidents, and another discouraging event may have occurred recentlyย in Los Angeles.
CBS Los Angeles reported Salesian High School student Rahyme Johnson โis accused of smearing Icy Hot on an opposing playerโs face during a high school football game.โย
Angel Salazar of La Canada High School was the alleged victim, and he left the field in obvious pain. The below video, perย LostLettermen.com, appears to show Johnson reaching under Salazarโs facemask and smearing the substance.

La Canada principal Ian McFeat commented on the developments, per CBS Los Angeles: โOur player came to the sidelines, and he was covered in Icy Hot. Covered in his face. โฆ Thatโs the kind of substance that if it really got in your eyes, it can do some damage.โ
Johnson is a Los Angeles native and 4-star athlete in the class of 2017, per 247Sportsโ composite rankings. He committed to UCLA, although he also received offers from fellow Pac-12 schools Utah, Washington State and Washington. ย ย ย
Edward Lewis of Rivals.com pointed out Johnsonโs commitment may not be the long-term variety in the immediate aftermath of his decision to be a Bruin: โStill, despite all of that, there will be a wonder of if this commitment will stick. The Bruins have had two decommitments in the past two months fromย Jordan Parkerย andย Michael Pittman, and they committed to UCLA far closer to their signing day than Johnson.โ
Even if Johnson does eventually lace it up for the Bruins, incidents like this wonโt help his status among UCLA coaches before he even arrives on campus.
