Nikki Bella vs. Charlotte: Winner, Reaction from 2015 WWE Night of Champions

Six days after becoming the longest-reigning Divas champion in WWE history, Nikki Bella lost to Charlotte on Sunday at Night of Champions.

WWE shared a photo of Charlotte celebrating with her dad, WWE Hall of Famer Ric Flair, and WWE Universe provided a GIF:

Charlotte nearly ended Nikki's run at history during their initial title match on Raw, but she instead pinned Brie in a Twin Magic attempt, which led to Nikki getting disqualified and retaining the Divas championship.

Despite the fact that she broke the record on a technicality, Nikki was still pleased with what she managed to accomplish by surpassing AJ Lee:

Charlotte was understandably disappointed by the manner in which things played out, but she was still confident that she would take the Divas title away from Nikki at Night of Champions:

Charlotte's father shared his daughter's point of view after watching her come so close to achieving her goal on Raw:

Nikki won the Divas championship last year at Survivor Series, and she won many matches by hook or by crook along the way. Many of her victories came by way of cheating, but she found ways to come out on top more often than not.

Many fans have been ready for Nikki to drop the title for some time, which is why there was so much backlash when she didn't lose to Charlotte on Raw. That defeat did help Nikki build even more heel heat, though, and it made for a sweeter moment at Night of Champions.

While WWE Universe seems to yearn for instant gratification, waiting a bit longer may have been the best move in the long run.

There are many potential feuds on the table for both Charlotte and Nikki moving forward, with Sasha Banks possibly being next in line for a Divas championship shot after defeating Paige on several occasions. If Sasha is the next No. 1 contender, then the Divas revolution is likely about to take off.

Even though fans can argue that the Divas revolution hasn't reached its zenith as quickly as many had hoped, there are brighter days ahead since there is no shortage of potential challengers for the title, including Sasha, Becky Lynch and others.   

Sunday's encounter between Nikki and Charlotte set some intriguing scenarios in motion, and it may have been a sign of things to come, with NXT's top females getting ready to take over the Divas division.
