US Open Tennis 2015 Draw Results: Full List of Seedings and Brackets
Novak Djokovic, who is seeking his second U.S. Open title, will begin his run in the year's final major starting on August 31 as the No. 1 seed taking on Joao Souza in the first round.
The most intriguing potential matchup for Djokovic on his side of the bracket is in the quarterfinals against Rafael Nadal. The Spanish star is the No. 8 seed and is just two years removed from winning the United States' biggest event.
On the right side of the bracket, Roger Federer is the second seed and will be seeking his first U.S. Open win since 2008. He got a favorable path with Tomas Berdych, Richard Gasquet and John Isner as the highest-ranked players in his region.

For the women, all eyes will be on top-seed Serena Williams. She is looking to become the first woman since Steffi Graf in 1988 to win all four majors in a calendar year, while also representing America's best hope for a native champion regardless of gender.

Men's Draw

Marin Cilic is the defending champion at this tournament and starts on the bottom right side of the bracket against a qualifier. His portion of the bracket also features Kei Nishikori, whom he defeated in last year's final to capture his first career major.
In addition to Nishikori, the U.S. Open tweeted out other key players on Cilic's portion of the bracket:
Unfortunately for Cilic, he has been unable to build off the best season of his career. The 26-year-old won four titles in 2014, but he has played just 14 singles matches this season with no titles due to a shoulder injury.
The door seems wide-open for Djokovic to make his third appearance in the final since 2011. He won't have to play Federer or No. 3 seed Andy Murray until the championship match.
However, Nick McCarvel of USA Today did point out an early-round opponent who could give Djokvoic problems:
Vasek Pospisil is coming off of his best performance in a major, advancing to the quarterfinals at Wimbledon. He's got plenty of power, especially with the forehand, but his stamina will be put to the test against one of tennis' best conditioned players, if he meets Djokovic.
The tennis gods didn't do Murray any favors, as he could have a brutal two-match run before going into the finals, per BBC Tennis' Russell Fuller:
Murray has lost both of his matches against Federer this season, though he has yet to meet Stan Wawrinka in 2015.
Women's Draw

Williams' path to a title could run through her sister Venus in the quarterfinals, with Maria Sharapova also on that side of the bracket.
In terms of trying to find a true rival for the best women's player in the world, good luck. She's been superb this year with just two match losses and complete domination of the U.S. Open over the last three years, per ESPN Stats & Info:
When asked by Jon Wertheim of Sports Illustrated about the potential to win a calendar-year Grand Slam, Williams didn't seem overwhelmed by the task in front of her: "It's always something I've thought about, a goal way out there. It would be pretty cool, wouldn't it?"
Considering it's been 27 years since a female player has been able to accomplish the feat, yes, it would be pretty cool if Williams is able to finish it off.
Williams' closest competitor by seeding is Simona Halep, who enters the U.S. Open ranked second. She hasn't found much success at this tournament, never advancing past the fourth round since 2011, though her skills on the hard court this year do bode well for a deep run.
In fact, as noted by WTATennis.com, Halep is one of the sport's best players on hard courts this season:
"Though she admittedly didn't have her best results on clay and grass this year, no one has done more winning on hardcourts in 2015 than the World No.2 - she's won more matches on hardcourts than anyone on the tour with 32, nobody else even at 30 yet, and she's tied with Williams for most WTA titles on hard this year with three (Shenzhen in January, Dubai in February, Indian Wells in March).
"
Williams did just defeat Halep in the Western and Southern Open last week. It would be stunning to see anyone but the American star holding up the trophy when the tournament ends in two weeks, but if any player is going to do it, Halep has the pedigree.
