Kofi Kingston: Future WWE/World Champion?

When Kofi Kingston first debuted on ECW back in January of 2008, We didn't know what to expect from the fresh talent. He was pushed strongly from the gecko for being the first Jamaican-born person to wrestle for the WWE. He remained undefeated for over three months before he recieved his first loss against Shelton Benjamin who he was feuding at the time. After their feud ended he was drafted to Raw as part of the supplemental draft. This is where Kofi Kingston would really start to shine.

Not wasting time, he instantly made an impact defeating Chris Jericho for the Intercontinental Title at Night of Champions. Although he only held the title for 49 days his thirst for more gold would be quenched as he won the World Tag Team Championship with CM Punk.

Soon after losing the titles to Miz and Morrison the team was broken up as CM Punk was pushed further into the World title picture while Kofi was left behind as he had still not proved himself as main event material. It would be close to 10 months before he would taste gold in the form of the U.S. Title after a hard fought battle against M.V.P.

So far Kofi has proved himself as a worthy Champion defending the belt against the likes of Primo, Carlito, Miz, Big Show, and Swagger. Now he's nearing 5 months as champion with no end in sight.

Kofi has beaten the odds time and time again and with the John Cena/Randy Orton feud ending soon seeing as how Randy is rumoured to feud with Dibiasi, that would leave Cena with no one to defend his title. I think this would be a perfect chance to present fans with the possibiltity of Kofi as a future champion plus would allow us to see how he would to hold his own against some of the WWE's Elite. This would certaintly be a breath of fresh air and would break the Orton/Cena/HHH main event chokehold thats been going on recently.

If not they should atleast take a chance with him I mean look at CM Punk and how good he turned out. They took a chance with him giving him the money in the bank two years in a row and he's now one of the WWE's top heels alongside Randy Orton and Chris Jericho. But anyway what do you think? You think the WWE should take a shot with Kingston and push him further as WWE Championship material? I would like to hear your opinions.
