Real Madrid Transfer News: David De Gea's Agent to Hold Manchester United Talks
The agent of Manchester United goalkeeper David De Gea, Jorge Mendes, will reportedly meet with club officials to clear up the transfer saga linking his client with a move to Real Madrid.
According to the Sun's Antony Kastrinakis, an inside source believes the arrival of Mendes will put an end to the summer-long saga once and for all, with the Spanish stopper leaving the Red Devils for good:
"Things will gather pace now. Real Madrid are confident a deal will 100 per cent go through before the end of the month.
De Gea will play for Real Madrid THIS season. Real Madrid do not want to cough up £30million for the Spain goalkeeper as he only has one year left on his United deal.

Speculation regarding the 24-year-old's future has raged throughout the summer and only picked up when Sergio Romero defended United's goal in their Premier League opener against Tottenham Hotspur.
Romero joined the club during the summer in a shock move, having spent most of the 2014-15 campaign backing up Emiliano Viviano at Sampdoria. The Argentina international seems to have finally caught his big break at Old Trafford, but even he hopes De Gea doesn't leave the club this summer, via SuperSport:
De Gea has just one year left on his current deal, and that appears to be the root of the problem. Real Madrid are unwilling to spend big in order to bring him into the club, knowing they could just sign him on a free transfer next summer, while the Red Devils are understandably unwilling to let him leave for pennies.
A move still seems inevitable, however, and according to AS (h/t Sport Witness), Los Blancos remain hard at work in order to make it happen and are willing to include Keylor Navas in the deal. MailOnline' Sami Mokbel adds Borja Mayoral to the mix, an 18-year-old striker who established himself as one of Europe's hottest prospects during last year's UEFA Youth League.
It's hard to predict whether the move will happen during the summer or at some point in 2016, but according to the fans, De Gea has to be Los Blancos' top priority moving forward. As reported by Marca (h/t football writer Johanna Gara), Forza Football conducted a poll among fans, which painted a clear picture:
Navas remains a more than capable starter who showed his quality on more than one occasion during the 2014 World Cup, and the club's decision to part with Iker Casillas without any guarantees regarding De Gea shows they're willing to move forward with the Costa Rican between the sticks.
He's looked excellent during pre-season, and manager Rafa Benitez sounded more than willing to work with the players already at his disposal after the 2-1 win over Galatasaray, via ESPN's Dermot Corrigan:
De Gea is one of the few true world-class options in goal right now, and given that he's not currently starting for United, one has to assume a deal could be made. The Red Devils remain reluctant to part ways for any cut-price deal, however, and Real will have to come up with a fair offer in order to complete this move during the summer.
Perhaps the presence of Mendes can finally bring the two sides together, ending one of the most public transfer sagas of the summer once and for all.
