After a day of upsets on Wednesday, the top players in the men's draw calmed things down on Thursday, as No. 1 Novak Djokovic, No. 2 Andy Murray, No. 7 Rafael Nadal, No. 10 Jo-Wilfried Tsonga and No. 16 John Isner all advanced without dropping a set.

A lot of fans were pulling for Isner in particular, as he knocked off Nick Kyrgios a day after Kyrgios made lewd comments about Stan Wawrinka's girlfriend. That was the talk of the tournament on Thursday, to the point that even Djokovic commented on the controversy, per Arash Madani of Sportsnet:

Kyrgios has been fined $10,000 for his remarks, per BBC Sport.

While Djokovic had little issue with Jack Sock, Nadal looked to be in vintage form against Mikhail Youzhny, to the point that Jon Wertheim of SI.com couldn't help but sit back and enjoy the action:

Nadal had a powerful serve and was moving around the court gracefully and effortlessly as he controlled the match. That certainly bodes well for his chances both at the remaining Coupe Rogers tournament and perhaps even looking ahead to the US Open.

And if nothing else, a healthy, flourishing Nadal is good for the sport and is the player best equipped to challenge Djokovic.

Of course, Murray isn't chopped liver. He made Gilles Muller look like chopped liver in their matchup, however, totally dominating the match.

Friday is going to be a fun day for tennis fans. Here's a look at the upcoming schedule:

John Isner (16)12:30 p.m.
vs. Jeremy Chardy
Novak Djokovic SRB (1)Not before 2:30 p.m.

Rafael Nadal ESP (7)Not before 6:30 p.m.
vs. Kei Nishikori (4)

Djokovic and Isner will be the favorites to advance, while the meeting between Murray and Tsonga should be an excellent contest. And given his play on Thursday, Nadal will be a tough out as well.

The collision course for No. 1 Serena Williams and No. 2 Simona Halep continued on Thursday, though they took different paths to advance.

While Williams cruised once again, Halep was tested by Angelique Kerber, needing three sets to advance. It was a grueling match, to the point that the first words Halep uttered in her post-match interview were simply, "I am tired," per WTA Insider.

"I said that I have to win it, because I cannot move anymore," she added about the last game, per WTA Insider. "I served well and I finished the game with an ace."

Awaiting her will be No. 6 Agnieszka Radwanska, who needed three sets of her own to advance past Alize Cornet on Wednesday. The Halep vs. Radwanska showdown will easily be the highlight of the women's draw on Friday.

Williams, meanwhile, brushed aside Andrea Petkovic, though you wouldn't know it from her post-match reaction, as the tennis star thought she had a choppy performance until presented with some of the stats from her win:

If tennis fans wanted a quick example of what makes Williams great, that exchange exemplifies it.

Her next victim—er, her next opponent—will be Roberta Vinci on Friday. Let's take a look at the full Friday schedule:

Agnieszka Radwanska (6)Not before 1 p.m.

Lesia TsurenkoAfter conclusion of prior match
vs. Sara Errani (15)
Serena Williams (1)Not before 7 p.m.

Belinda BencicAfter conclusion of prior match
vs. Ana Ivanovic (5)

Halep vs. Radwanska will be the main event, but Friday has plenty of intriguing matchups for fans to enjoy.
