Roman Reigns Comments on Fan Attack from WWE Event
Roman Reigns didn't appreciate the Money in the Bank event being used to cost him a world title chance at WrestleMania. What he appreciated even less, however, was an ornery fan throwing a replica of the MITB briefcase and striking him in the head over the weekend.
āI was confused at first,ā Reigns told Jim Varsallone of the Miami Herald. āI thought Bray hit me in the head with the kendo stick. So immediately I was like, āAww man. Youāre about to get it, brother. Aww, youāre about to get your [butt] whooped,ā but then I looked down, and I could see the briefcase. So then Iām trying to piece this thing together."
The incident happened in a one-on-one match against Bray Wyatt at a WWE house show Saturday in British Columbia. Security at the event apprehended the fan, a 31-year-old man, who was subsequently removed from the building. Reigns was uninjured and went on to complete the match.
āIām a character and a sports entertainer and a wrestler, but Iām also a father and a husband and a provider," Reigns said. "So for me thatās scary, because Iām just going out there to put on a good show and provide for my family and take care of my future, and if somebody takes that away from me... For what? For 10 seconds of Internet fame. Thatās tough to deal with. Thatās hard to process.ā
Reigns is scheduled to fight alongside former Shield member Dean Ambrose against Wyatt and Luke Harper at SummerSlam. Reigns and Wyatt, who have a storied history going back to the Shield vs. Wyatt Family rivalry, have been in a feud since the latter ruined the former's chance at winning this year's Money in the Bank ladder match.
So, what we're saying is we all should probably avoid bringing briefcases around Roman. Between Seth Rollins, Wyatt and now this fan, it's safe to say they're probably not Reigns' favorite accessory at the moment.Ā
