NASCAR at Watkins Glen 2015: Live Results, Standings for Cheez-It 355
Joey Logano led just one lap in Sunday's Cheez-It 355 at Watkins Glen, but it was the only lap that mattered.
Logano captured his second checkered flag of the season with a last-lap pass when Kevin Harvick ran out of fuel. It was a satisfying finish for the 22 team, which had been in the top five in each of the last four Sprint Cup Series races without a win.
The win is the first of Logano's career at a road course on the Sprint Cup Series and his second overall after visiting Victory Lane in Saturday's XFinity Series Zippo 200.
Sunday was the second straight week where fuel strategy played a pivotal role in the outcome.
Matt Kenseth stole a win last week at Pocono when Logano, Martin Truex Jr. and Kyle Busch all ran out on the final laps, and this week it was Harvick, after leading a race-high 29 laps, who came up short just feet from the finish.
Kyle Busch finished second, giving him—at least for the time being—enough points to qualify for the Chase.
Harvick limped across the finish line on fumes to finish third.
Kenseth and Kurt Busch rounded out the top five.
With just four races left before the start of the Chase, NASCAR's Sprint Cup Series returns to action next Sunday for the Pure Michigan 400 at Michigan International Speedway.
