Bouchard Reveals Abdominal Tear After Upset Loss

Bouchard's nightmare 2015 season continued with a first-round loss at Wimbledon, and after the match, she told reporters she entered the tournament with a severe abdominal tear. According to SI Tennis, she knew her chances of success coming into this match were small:
Bouchard looked uncomfortable and a step slow during her match against Duan, losing in two sets.

Following the loss, Bouchard will fall out of the top 20, per CBC News Alerts, and she could slide further since she made the Wimbledon final in 2014. Sportsnet's Arash Madani cannot believe how quickly Bouchard has lost the pedals:
Of course, she cannot be blamed for getting injured, and she deserves recognition for trying to play through the pain and trying to get a result at Wimbledon. Perhaps some time away from the court will do her good, although her ranking will undoubtedly take another hit.
