Belmont Stakes Results 2015: Video Replay of American Pharoah's Triple Crown Win
The 37-year Triple Crown drought has officially come to an end.
American Pharoah dazzled in the 2015 Belmont Stakes, showing zero signs of fatigue and outlasting a field of rested competitors to earn a wire-to-wire victory. With a final time of 2:26.65, Pharoah defeated Frosted by 5 1/2 lengths and was the fastest horse to complete the race since A.P. Indy in 1992.
For several minutes after crossing the finish line, the crowd at Belmont Park continued to roar for the colt, showing their appreciation and support. It was truly a historic run, as Pharoah became the 12th horse to obtain the coveted Triple Crown, joining the elite ranks of Secretariat, Seattle Slew and others.
Just in case you missed Saturday's action at Belmont Park or simply want to relive the moment over and over again, here's a look at the race in its entirety:
Here's a glance at the complete finishing order:

American Pharoah didn't have the greatest break out of the gate, falling a head behind other competitors upon the starting bell. However, he soon flashed the same acceleration he showed in both the Kentucky Derby and Preakness Stakes, bursting through the middle of the pack to move into the lead position.

Moving into the lead was a fantastic maneuver by veteran jockey Victor Espinoza, as Pharoah was able to work his way inside and run just off the rail. This kept the colt from running any additional unnecessary distance in the already lengthy 1 1/2-mile race.
Pharoah was already settled into his position before the first turn and breezed at a quick pace from there, running the first quarter mile in 24.06 and reaching the three-quarter mile mark in 1:13.41. Competitors continued to fight for position behind Pharoah, but the favorite maintained his stranglehold on his one-length lead.
That's when the colt's impressive stamina came into play. Once he reached the top of the stretch, Pharoah extended his lead to two lengths over the field and only continued to get stronger from there. He did receive some chase by Frosted—a fine closer in his own right—but the challenge fizzled out, as Pharoah increased his lead over the final furlong to win by 5 1/2 lengths.
For Pharoah's supporting cast, the victory marked the first time Espinoza won the Belmont Stakes and just the second time for famed trainer Bob Baffert. This was Espinoza's third attempt at a Triple Crown run at Belmont Park, and it was Baffert's fourth.
Before the race, Baffert spoke of the difficulty of winning the Triple Crown during an interview with CBS News, saying, "I know the odds are against us—37 years—there's a reason for that." Although, he did remain optimistic about his horse, adding, "(Pharoah) is more explosive than my other horses. Every time he runs, he's showing me; he looks like maybe this is the one."
As it turned out, Pharoah was the one, indeed.
