Bookie in Trouble for Comment on Manchester Utd Man James Wilson's Girlfriend
A bookmaker in Australia has come under fire for a "shocking" tweet about Manchester United striker James Wilson's girlfriend that suggested he should "abuse his privilege" as a footballer.
"Disgraceful that we need to remind people like @oddscheckerau over and over that #WomenareNOTapunchline @JennaPrice pic.twitter.com/CaCNMBQZv6
— Hera Magazine (@HeraMag) May 21, 2015"
Wilson has been on the fringes of the United first team this season, and the 20-year-old was pictured with his girlfriend at the club's end-of-season event.
Oddschecker's tweet has since been deleted, but the criticism of the original tweet has continued:
"So when are you disciplining the scumbag responsible for this, @OddscheckerAu? http://t.co/0pzEQg8OJI
— Bernard Keane (@BernardKeane) May 21, 2015"
"This is your daily reminder that betting companies are truly the most awful thing on the internet https://t.co/REY7XxltEu
— Mark Di Stefano (@MarkDiStef) May 21, 2015"
".@OddscheckerAu You are disgusting.

"Log off forever @OddscheckerAu pic.twitter.com/c73tnYTaAp

The company tweeted an apology for the line:
"Apologies for the offence caused by our earlier Tweet - it's now been deleted.
