NBA Draft Combine 2015: Full List of Participants
The NBA draft takes place on June 25, but before teams make their picks, they have to get a look at what the players in this year's class are capable of doing. The league has released the full list of participants for this year's scouting combine.
Per Sports Illustrated's NBA Twitter feed, the full list of 62 players taking part in this year's predraft workout from May 12 through 17 in Chicago includes Ohio State's D'Angelo Russell and Wisconsin's dynamic duo of Sam Dekker and Frank Kaminsky:
The most notable absences are projected top picks Jahlil Okafor and Karl-Anthony Towns, though the event will not be short on talent.
Per ESPN's Chad Ford, the format for the combine has changed to provide teams with a better look at how players fare in a game-like venue:
Also from Ford, there will be a lot of potential lottery selections and other mid-first-round selections who only take part in the medical evaluation process:
As nice as it would be to see talent like Russell take part in the new competitive format, it's also understandable why he would choose to sit it out. There's no point in risking injury for a high pick, so just going through a routine medical check to make sure everything comes out OK makes sense.
The combine is really for players from smaller schools or those flying under the radar to make an impression on teams to either increase their stock or put themselves in the mix to get taken in the second round. Okafor, Towns, Russell and others don't have to worry about where they stand at this point.
