In accordance with WWE’s Wellness Program, effective Wednesday, September 2, Oscar Gutierrez (Rey Mysterio) is suspended for 30 days for a violation of the company’s policy.
Wow. What a hit for the WWE. Just after watching Dolph Ziggler defeat Finlay and Mike Knox for the chance to face Rey Mysterio for the IC title at Breaking Point, I read that ReyRey was suspended.
What is most heartbreaking about this is, although we aren’t aware of what exactly was the cause for Mysterio breaking the Wellness Policy, we know it was probably drug related. This is Rey Mysterio we are talking about. They same man who openly wept for the loss of his good friends Eddie Guerrero and Chris Benoit, who both had a history of drug and perscription drug abuse.
It’s a real shame when these wrestlers cry for the loss of someone who died too young because of being involved with that stuff, and still can’t get it through their head that DRUGS ARE BAD! Drugs can kill you! Wrestlers don’t have a great track record when it comes to this stuff, why can’t they just learn?
Rey Mysterio, IC Champion, fan favorite with more kiddie fans than almost every other Superstar. Rey Mysterio who has lost friends because of drugs. Seriously, how dumb does someone have to be to continue to do that junk?
I’m sorry if I seem rough, I love ReyRey, but come on… all wrestlers should know better and really, Rey should know better than most.
Maybe I’m not rough enough. I don’t know. I’m just really sick of these guys not “getting it”. What a joke. What is so hard about understanding that that junk can and will eventually kill you? Wrestling aside, Rey is a husband and a father. How do you explain something like that to your family? So much for sticking up for Vickie when she left the WWE, all he is doing is putting his own family in that same postition.
Anyway, what this means for Dolph Ziggler and the Intercontinental Title, I don’t know. The announcement said "effective Sept. 2nd," so I guess he'll be dropping it on next weeks SD! taping.
What a shame… not just for Rey and his family, but for Dolph Ziggler who was really getting to shine because of him. Lose-lose situation for everyone.
