Paul Pogba Transfer News: Latest Rumours, Speculation on Juventus Midfielder

Paul Pogba's potential departure from Juventus has been one of the big transfer stories of the summer, as the Italians continue to fight hard to keep him in Turin.

Barcelona tested their resolve with a major bid, while Manchester City also monitored the France international, but Juve continue to stand firm. Pogba has now indicated he is preparing to stay at the Juventus Stadium to counteract the loss of Arturo Vidal to Bayern Munich.

Juventus President Claims Club Rejected €80 Million Offers

"We're not a club who can afford a €70m buy," Juventus president Giuseppe Marotta said, per Adam Digby of BeIN Sport. "But I say with pride that we refused offers over €80m for Pogba."

"We are Juventus and we must always do well,” said Pogba, per La Gazzetta dello Sport (h/t Football-Italia.net). “I'm available to do what the Coach asks me, for the good of the team."

Pogba added: "Can I score as much as Vidal? Why not? I can do that. I hope so for everyone, for myself and for Juventus." 

Duncan Castles of One World Sports had claimed on July 21 Barcelona and Juventus agreed an €80 million fee for Pogba, with the midfielder to return to the Italian club on loan for a year.

However, Juventus have always remained defiant, issuing a public warning toward Barcelona when CEO Giuseppe Marotta declared on July 20 there was no need for the club to sell, per the team's Twitter account.


Pogba Informs Manchester City He's Not Interested

Castles reported Pogba still holds a grudge against City after the Manchester club passed on signing him as a free agent in 2012.

Regardless, City had already been put off by the £100 million-plus package required to sign the Juventus midfielder, according to Mark Ogden and Chris Bascombe of the Daily Telegraph on July 8.


Zidane Reveals Real Madrid Interest, But No Offer Tabled

"A lot of clubs are interested in him, and so are Real. It is natural that talented players are of interest to all the big clubs," Zinedine Zidane said of Pogba, via Alec Fenn of Goal.com. "For his continued growth it is important that he has a healthy environment, and I hope that he will always have that."

On May 28, Real Madrid denounced a La Stampa article that claimed they had made an official offer for Pogba. A club statement labelled the report "completely false."

Pogba is one of the outstanding talents in world football, coveted by Europe's top clubs, but it appears he is set to remain loyal to Juventus as the new season approaches.
