UFC newcomer Chase Gormley finally has a set opponent and fight card for his Octagon debut. Gormley will take on Stefan Struve on October 24th as part of undercard for UFC 104.
U.K magazine Fighters Only was the first to confrim the bout.
Gormley was originally slated to fight Ben Rothwell on August 1st as part of Affliction Entertainment’s Trilogy event. Following Affliction’s decision to cancel their third pay per view and return to the UFC as a sponsor the bout was quickly transferred over to the UFC 104 fight card.
The 25 year old Gormley was briefly left without an opponent when UFC began to reshuffle their fall line-up over the course of the last 24 hours.
Rothwell was called up to the main card of UFC 104, after Shane Carwin was moved to a heavyweight title bout with Brock Lesnar in November, where he will now fight Cain Velazquez.
Struve made his UFC debut in February suffering a TKO loss to Junior dos Santos. The 21 year old returned to the Octagon at UFC 99 where he secured a victory with a second round submission over Denis Stojnic.
Gormley is a former NAIA All American wrestler at Lindenwood University who made his pro MMA debut in 2007. Undefeated in his first six contests the California native last fight was a unanimous decision victory over Eric Pele in May 2008. The 6'3" five star MMA prospect currently trains at Black House gym in Sothern California.
