Devon Still Re-Signs With Bengals: Latest Contract Details, Comments, Reaction

Mike ChiariMar 19, 2015

Defensive tackle Devon Still has had a whirlwind year both professionally and personally, but everything seems to be coming together for the 25-year-old. The team announced the move on Thursday:

According to his agent, Drew Rosenhaus, the former Penn State standout has agreed to a new contract with the Cincinnati Bengals:

Still became a household name last season due in part to the story of his four-year-old daughter, Leah, who had been battling cancer. She had beenĀ diagnosed withĀ Stage IV neuroblastoma last June.

Fortunately, Still posted this uplifting message via Instagram on Tuesday:

"

That moment you get the best news you've ever received and don't know what to do so you just flex!! We got Leah's MIBG Scans back tonight and the doctors told us they didn't see any active disease in her body!!! We still have to wait for her MRI and bone biopsy results later this week. But the doctors feel very optimistic about them because of the results from today. So for now we celebrate!! #LeahStrong #PrayersWork #ThankYouEveryOne #ImSoHappyIFeelNumb #BeatCancer #NotCancerFreeYetButWeOnTheWayThere

"

According to Paul Dehner Jr. ofĀ The Cincinnati Enquirer, Still had aĀ one-year offer on the table for quite some time:

Dehner passed along quotes from Still about Leah and his future in football:

Head coach Marvin Lewis also discussed the deal, per Dehner:

Still played in a career-high 12 games for the Bengals last season, recording 11 tackles.

It couldn't have been easy for him with so much uncertainty surrounding Leah, but he still managed to do his job and contribute on a playoff team.
