Tyson Fury and Wladimir Klitschko Begin Talks, Frank Warren Confident of Deal

Mike ChiariFeb 27, 2015

If Tyson Fury takes care of business against Christian Hammer Saturday as expected, a huge heavyweight title clash with Wladimir Klitschko could very well be on the horizon.

According to Nick Parkinson of ESPN UK, Frank Warren of Queensberry Promotions firmly believes that Fury is next in line to take on the Ukrainian champion.

"

If Tyson comes through the Hammer fight we have Deontay Wilder's camp and the Klitschko camp wanting the fight. More importantly, you've got Showtime, who are involved with Wilder, and HBO, who are involved in Klitschko, saying Fury is the fight they want because they know it's going to be a cracking fight.

While a bout with an up-and-coming American like Wilder would be huge for the big Brit, Warren feels as though there will be a bigger push for Fury versus Klitschko, per Parkinson.

"HBO I think are forcing the Klitschkos into the fight," Warren said. "I am confident the fight is going to be made because the WBO have ordered it. ... Klitschko will either have to vacate or fight, but the conversations we've had were positive and I'm confident we will get it over the line."

In addition to that, Fury has admitted that Klitschko is his preferred opponent due to his lofty status in boxing, according to SkySports.com.

"

I'd choose Wlad because he's rated as the No. 1 in the division and he has most of the belts apart from one. The reason I'd choose him is because he's so dominant and he's ruled the division for 10 years, nobody can beat him. I'm going to be the man to topple him, then I'll fight Wilder and beat him as well.

"

Fury isn't lacking for confidence, but Hammer intends to spoil the party in their fight Saturday, per Warren:

With that said, Fury is a considerable favorite against Hammer, and every indication is that he should be able to get past his Romanian opponent.

Klitschko hasn't had the greatest competition over the past several years, so he may have no choice other than to agree to a fight with Fury should the British star prevail.
