Mayweather vs. Pacquiao Odds: Initial Vegas Lines for Super Fight

After years of posturing, Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao are finally going to square off in Las Vegas on May 2 to determine the best boxer of this generation. 

Mayweather broke the news in dramatic fashion, as you would expect, by sending out a photo of the signed contract, via SportsCenter:

After getting over the initial shock of finally knowing Mayweather and Pacquiao are going to be in the same ring at the same time, the next thing on everyone's mind is how the bettors see things shaking out. 

Ask and you shall receive, as SportsCenter tweeted out that Mayweather is the early favorite by a sizable margin:

Even though that number seems lopsided, it really shouldn't come as a surprise. Bettors love Mayweather, who owns a perfect 47-0 record and is coming off impressive wins against Marcos Maidana and Saul Alvarez. 

In January, before the deal was agreed to, Pacquiao tweeted out that he doesn't mind being the underdog:

Pacquiao, on the other hand, hasn't looked like himself recently. He did avenge a controversial 2012 loss to Timothy Bradley last year but was knocked out by Juan Manuel Marquez and proved nothing in wins over Brandon Rios and Chris Algieri.

Everything that has happened in the careers of these two legendary fighters has brought them to this moment. Pacquiao and Mayweather have done a lot of great things over the years.

Pacquiao's win over Oscar De La Hoya in 2008 launched him into the stratosphere of boxing, setting him on the path to greatness. Mayweather used De La Hoya to springboard himself to stardom in 2007, though he would say it was in him the day he was born. 

Now, with both fighters in their late 30s, Mayweather and Pacquiao will finally put an end to the long-debated question of which one would come out on top in a match. Mayweather already has the edge with Las Vegas, but in just over two months, all the answers will come.
