Colorado Update: Notes & Quotes From 1st Week of Fall Practice
Greetings, Buff fans, from CU at the Game!
The first full week of fall practice is in the books, and, after conducting their first scrimmage on Thursday, the Buffs are looking good (or, at the very least, relatively healthy!). I hope you have been checking in periodically, as the website is being updated almost daily.
Today at www.cuatthegame.com is the latest news on junior college wide receiver Andre Simmons. The CU Athletic Department issued a press release on Friday clarifying Simmons’ status, as the wide-out remains in limbo. Also posted today is a look at the quarterback battle for the Buffs’ first opponent, Colorado State (It’s looking like the September 6th match-up will be decided by the running games – CSU has no one to throw the ball; CU has no one to throw the ball to!).
In case you missed them, there are other postings from this past week which are still up on the website, including:
- notes and quotes from Thursday’s scrimmage – freshman wide receiver Will Jefferson the surprise star!
- the final word(s) on “ten wins; no excuses” – read for yourself how Dan Hawkins’ December speech has been misinterpreted.
- Max Tuioti-Mariner is not going on a Mormom mission, at least not yet. MTM wants to play for the Buffs this fall!
- Three scholarships awarded to walk-ons. At least one of the three (safety Travis Sandersfeld) will see significant playing time this fall.
Also, today I have posted the write up from the CU/CSU game from 2004. The Buffs’ season-opener five years ago came down to the last play, with the Buffs prevailing in what I have dubbed the “Win One for The Stripper” game. (I apologize in advance for some of the copy. The words are all there, but the paragraph-ending issues I have had with WordPress continue. This problem should come to an end in a few weeks when the new and improved CU at the Game is launched!!).
