Brooklyn Cyclones to Wear Ridiculous 'Saved by the Bell' Jersey for Theme Night

Dan CarsonFeb 6, 2015

Continuing their strong run of ballpark nostalgia nights, the Brooklyn Cyclones plan to follow up the rousing success that was 2014's "Seinfeld Night" with a "Salute to Saved by the Bell Night" this summer.

The minor league New York Mets affiliate tweeted out a preview of the jersey its players will wear for the event. It is spectacular.

Outlined on the Cyclones website are the special events and activities planned for the evening. All of them are predictably awesome.

Here are a few highlights of what the franchise has in store:

  • Pregame "sprain" dancing competition.
  • A.C. Slater's "sitting backwards musical chairs."
  • Mr. Tuttle's "learner's permit on-field obstacle course."
  • Kiss Cam complete with "WOOOOOOOOOOOW" sounds from the "live studio audience" at the game.
  • Anyone named Johnny Dakota will not be allowed inside the ballpark, because the Cyclones "say nope to dope."
  • "Oldest cell phone in the ballpark" competition.
  • Friendship bracelet station on the concourse (singing "Friends Forever" is optional).
  • Fans with perms or wearing stonewashed denim will be allowed to run the bases after the game.

The game will take place on Wednesday, June 24, at 7 p.m. ET, and I can scarcely keep myself from donning Zubaz at this very moment in anticipation.

Well done, Brooklyn. It's not a free-range gelato sale benefiting illiterate sea turtles, but you may have finally out-Brooklyn'd yourself. Also, I loved Saved by the Bell, and you had me at A.C. Slater musical chairs.

Dan is on Twitter, propping up his biceps by sitting backwards on a chair.
