Manny Pacquiao Asks Miss USA About Global Terrorism at Miss Universe Pageant
Adding to his diverse portfolio of non-boxing activities, Manny sat in as a judge at the 2015 Miss Universe beauty pageant Sunday night.
, along with Donald Trump and other celebrities, eventually selected Miss Colombia as the contest's winner, but not before analyzing each contestant's character in a question-and-answer segment.
Judges' questions at these events typically involve queries on education, world hunger or—in Pacquiao's case—the geopolitical climate of worldwide extremism.
For The Win's Mike Foss spotted video of the incident.
Miss USA contestant Sanchez stepped up to a glass bowl and fished out a card making her questioner. The boxer obliged, using his platform as a pageant judge to further the discussion on global terrorism.
"If you were given 30 seconds to deliver a message to global terrorists, what would you say?" asked.
Nope. No softballs with Pac-Man at the table. It's ISIS takes or bust at this pageant. Leave your chill at the door.
To her credit, Sanchez handled the curveball without referencing "the Iraq":
"If I was given 30 seconds to give a message to the global terrorists—is that what you said? OK, I would just say that, you know, I know as Miss USA, I can always spread a message of hope and love and peace, and so I would do my very best to spread that message to them and everyone else in the world.
"
Boom. Chew on that big bushel of love-cud, terrorists.
Goodwill, hope and peace will always win, and who better to remind the global terrorists (as opposed to the local variety) of love's enduring nature than a beautiful woman dressed in a manner that would make their skin boil?
Well done, Miss USA. Now if we can only get Floyd Jr. to face off against with such vigor.
