Harry Kane, Tottenham Agree on New Contract: Latest Details, Comments, More
Tottenham Hotspur have rewarded Harry Kane for his strong run of form with a new contract at White Hart Lane.
Spurs announced the news on their official Twitter:
Tottenham also shared photos of Kane signing the new deal:
Kane tweeted:
According to the Daily Telegraph's Jason Burt, the 21-year-old will see a pay rise from £20,000 a week to a minimum of £35,000 a week.
Kane has been one of Tottenham's best players this season. He has scored 20 goals in all competitions, per Soccerbase. That is double the tally of next closest player Nacer Chadli, according to Transfermarkt.
He's far outperformed Roberto Soldado and Emmanuel Adebayor—more expensive and established names in England.
Squawka pointed out how instrumental Kane's contributions have been to Spurs in the Premier League:
Of course, contracts in football are hardly worth the paper they're printed on. Plenty of major stars have signed long-term extensions only to switch clubs a few months later.
With that said, Spurs fans should be happy to see Kane willing to commit to the club, and he does seem totally committed. His new deal will also ensure the striker retains premium value should he wish to move.
