If you haven't yet seen the USA Today Poll, Florida, Texas, Oklahoma, USC, and Alabama take the top 5 with Florida obviously #1. Big Ten's Ohio State is the conferences first team at #6 with Penn State two spots back at #8. But after Ohio State and Penn State there is no Big Ten teams untill Iowa comes in at only #21. And then that's it for Big Ten teams in the poll. In fact, they are tied with MWC at 3 teams in the top 25.

The Big Ten has really taken a fall in last year with the fall of Michigan, Wisconsin, and an Illinois team that was a big threat in 2006. There is one team that I would like to point out and that is Michigan State. Michigan State received the second most "Other receiving votes". I think that MSU deserved the top 25 over teams like Notre Dame and Brigham Young, and that is coming from a Penn State fan.

I guess you could say that the Big Ten going down hill could be expected with Michigan losing so many key players in 2007 and same thing with Wisconsin. But I don't agree with a good amount of these votes and think that the Big Ten should have at least 4 teams in the poll instead of 3. So I'm going to make up my own top 25 and tell me what you think.

Here is what I came up with:

1. Florida

2. Oklahoma

3. Texas

4. USC

5. Alabama

6. Ohio State

7. Penn State

8. Virgina Tech

9. LSU

10. Oklahoma State

11. Georgia

12. Mississippi

13. Oregon

14. California

15. Georgia Tech

16. TCU

17. Utah

18. Florida State

19. Boise State

20. Iowa

21. North Carolina

22. Oregon State

23. Nebraska

24. Michigan State

25. Kansas

I don't think that Notre Dame deserves a spot simply because a 7-6 should not be in the top 25 with a very easy schedule (other than USC). They did win their bowl game but that doesn't mean a whole lot against Hawaii. Notre Dame would get a #26 spot from me and then BYU would get a #27 spot.
