Rich Rodriguez: "We're Still Waiting on Two Players To Be Eligible"
Practice opens up this Monday for the Michigan Wolverines, and it's not looking good for two freshman DBs.ย
Justin Turner and Adrian Witty both are being evaluated by the NCAA clearing house for their academic eligibility. Rich Rodriguez told 1050 AM that this just recently came up and they are waiting on news.ย
He's hopeful that they will find out before Sunday if they are both going to be able to play. They are waiting on test scores for Witty and Turner needs to get some undisclosed information in.ย
Turner is definitely expected to challenge for one of the secondary spots. He's a five-star recruit coming in and they are really looking forward to getting him on the field. ย
Witty is not held in as high regard, but mostly because he's coming off an ACL injury, before that occurred he was thought to be one of the best. Witty could definitely help with the weak secondary.ย
In good news, Coach RR said,ย โJeremy Gallonโs score came in and he qualified, so he should be squared away. So weโre just waiting on Turner, Witty and hopefully one or both of them will get resolved very quickly. A lot of times with late test scores andย schoolsย being out in the summer, tougher to get those things in.โ
He said the prospect of quarterback Jason Forcier joining the team hopefully will be determined soon and admitted to school by the first team meeting on Sunday when players report.ย
Rodriguez canโt comment specifically about Forcier beyond the admission because heโs not a member of the team but said theyโre โtrying to add depth and competition at every positionโ and the problems at quarterback last season show the importance of that.
