I recently read an article dealing with the top 50 games to watch for in 2009. I really liked the article a lot and thought I can do something like this dealing with each week.

The link for the article which gave me the idea is http://bleacherreport.com/articles/220155-ready-for-some-football-the-50-biggest-games-in-09.  Sean Megan the author did a very good job.

So here are my top 20 picks for the first week of the College Football season.

Okay I lied I found 23 games I thought needed mention in this article. This is part 2 of the Games to watch. Numbers 23-14 are in part 1 numbers 13-1 will be part 2.

13. Sep 5 Minnesota @ Syracuse

Minnesota returns 18 starters from last year’s bowl team but will have two new coordinators. Syracuse brings in a whole new coaching staff to try and lead the Orange back to the top level, Hell medium level at least. Should be close early then the Golden Gophers should pull away easy.

Minnesota 35 Syracuse 17

12. Sep 5 Baylor @ Wake Forest

Baylor returns 18 starters from last year and with explosive QB Robert Griffin anything is possible. Wake Forest lost seven starters on defense from last year’s bowl team, even with QB Riley Skinner coming back look for a long year for the Demon Deacons. Wake Forest should win this game with it being at home.

Wake Forest 24 Baylor23

11. Sep 5 Nevada @ Notre Dame

Everything is setting up for this to be Notre Dame’s year. Defense will be shaky at times but the offense should win lots of games for the Irish. Nevada returns 15 starters with most coming from the high profile offense. The Wolf Pack will try and contend for the WAC title this year. Notre Dame should win easy.

Notre Dame 41 Nevada 24

10. Sep 5 LSU @ Washington

I know Steve Sarkisian has coached in big games at USC but this will be the first time as a head coach. One thing is for certain Washington will be better than last year by a game or two.

LSU has made a lot of changes from last year’s team, with a new QB and defense coordinator there will be room to grow. LSU wins easily.

LSU 31 Washington 10

9. Sep 5 Navy @ Ohio State

Plain and simple this game and year for the Buckeyes is all about Terrelle Pryor. Buckeyes lost tons of players on offense and defense but will be in every game the play. Navy defense will be strong and the will get their yards on offense as always on the ground. Ohio State wins big.

Ohio State 31 Navy 13

8. Sep 5 Oklahoma vs. Brigham Young in Arlington TX

BYU will have lots of options for senior QB Max Hall on offense. The Cougars defense needs to be more reliable if they have any shot at beating top teams. Oklahoma has a new line up front but don’t worry with Sam Bradford at QB the Sooners will be fine. Defense will be the question for the Sooners again this year a lot of starters return but the need to play a lot better. Sooners win in a shootout.

Oklahoma 45 BYU 31

7. Sep 5 Maryland @ California

Maryland has to replace over 12 starters from last year’s squad. California has lots of questions on this year’s team, one thing for sure we know who is running the ball. Jahvid Best is one of the best running backs in the game. Cal should win easily but watch the QB play if the Bears have any shot at a PAC title the QB position will be the key.

California 28 Maryland 16

6. Sep 3 South Carolina @ N.C.State

Russell Wilson vs Stephan Garcia. I have thought over this game for weeks switching back and forth ok here it is. South Carolina has lots of questions on offense but their defense will be fierce. N.C. State has lots of questions on defense but the offense should be great if Wilson stays healthy. Wolfpack slip by.

N.C. State 24 South Carolina 21

5. Sep 7 Miami @ Florida State

Enough said. Is one of the best games every year. Both Teams have too many questions that need answering and no matter what the problems both teams will be pumped to win this game. You can throughout all scouting reports and just sit down and watch a hard hitting game from the ACC. Seminoles will get it done no wide right.

FSU 27 Miami 17

4. Sep 5 Georgia @ Oklahoma State

The Cowboys come in trying to prove last year was no fluke. The offense will be there for the Cowboys the question is the defense. Georgia lost key personal but have other key personal to step up and take the job of leader.

The defense will be the question for the Bulldogs this year. I fill this game comes down to Bryant vs Green two of the best receivers in the game. Cowboys win at home.

Oklahoma State 35 Georgia 24

3. Sep 5 Illinois vs Missouri in St Louis

Missouri lost 22 seniors have 2 new coordinators, the talent is still there. Illinois will look more like 2007 than 2008 this year. This game will be about heart and who wants it more. Illinois wins at the end.

Illinois 24 Missouri 23

2. Sep 3 Oregon @ Boise State

Get ready for the blue turf what a way to top of opening night in College Football. Boise State will try and prove that the belong with the big boys while the Ducks show the country what they have in store for the Trojans this year. Boise State gets it done.

Boise State 35 Oregon 32

1. Sep 5 Virginia Tech vs Alabama in Atlanta

Alabama will start the season where the hope they are playing on in December for the SEC title. Virginia Tech’s Tyrod Taylor hope the Hokies will follow him to the ACC title again this year. Look for a tuff hard fought match between two powers in the game of college football.  Take your pick.

Virginia Tech 21 Alabama 17
