Roger Federer vs. Andy Roddick

2009 Wimbledon Tennis Final Match Preview:

Roger Federer:

World No. 2, Roger Federer confirmed a place in his seventh straight Wimbledon final with a convincing 7-6(3) 7-5 6-3 win over Tommy Haas.

Federer has been in his typical fine form all tournament, only dropping a single set in the Championship so far. The Fed Express has won 121 games and conceded seventy five in the process.

Andy Roddick:

Sixth seed Andy Roddick, booked a place in his third Wimbledon final with an extremely impressive 6-4 4-6 7-6(7) 7-6(5) win over World No. 3, Andy Murray.

The former World No. 1, has found a massive resurgence in form, reaching his first Grand Slam final since 2005 where, incidentally, he was defeated in straight sets by none other than Roger Federer in the final of Wimbledon.

Best Andy Roddick Odds for Wimbledon Betting:

Bet on Andy Roddick to win at 6 from William Hill

Prediction:

The two former World No. 1 players have met twenty two times, with Federer holding a remarkable 19-3 record over Roddick.

Their last meeting came in the Madrid Masters quarter-finals earlier this year, where Federer was the victor with a 7-5 6-7(5) 6-1 scoreline. Furthermore, the Swiss Maestro has won their last three meetings, and has yet to lose a single match to Roddick on grass in all of their meetings.

Federeer has been in typical outstanding form as he approaches a record fifteen Grand Slam titles, after equalling Pete Sampras's fourteen majors at Roland Garros last month. The five-time Wimbledon winner has looked almost entirely untroubled all tournament long, and Roddick will have to rely on his big serve and powerful groundstrokes to stand any chance of troubling Federer at his current level.

Probably Roddick's best chance of taking something from the match is to force the issue by taking the sets to a tie-breaker and hoping that Federer slips up, at least momentarily, but even if the Fed were to drop a set this way, which in itself even looks unlikely, his overall consistency and brilliance should prove too much against the impressive Roddick.

It looks to be more history in the making for the supremely talented Roger Federer, as he confirms his status as the greatest and most successful tennis player of all time.

Roger Federer vs. Andy Roddick Prediction:

Federer in four sets.
