Detroit Tigers Dressed in Full Zubaz After Beating Red Sox

Dan CarsonContributor IJanuary 7, 2017

There’s no half-jobbing when it comes to Zubaz. You go all the way, or you don’t go at all.

The Detroit Tigers have gone full Zubaz, capping off a sweep of the Boston Red Sox Sunday by dressing in striped jumpsuits and headbands.

Joseph Student of Busted Coverage spotted images of the Tigers rocking ‘90s comfort wear. It seemed everyone on the roster was practically smothered in Zubaz and “Turn Down For What” shirts.

Justin Verlander was among the laundry list of players loving the new threads. He uploaded a picture of he, Miguel Cabrera and others posing hard for the cameras with the caption: “Roooooaaaaarrrrrr!!! #tigerszubaz #dressforsuccess.”

Zubaz headbands made an appearance on the plane, likely doubling as a convenient sleep mask.

The team also managed to get its hands on some Zubaz ties, which the present author didn’t even know existed until this very moment.

Student writes that the Tigers’ new groove might have been triggered by Verlander’s decision to wear Zubaz in a postgame interview earlier this month.

“Did this all get rolling from an Instagram pic that Verlander posted a few weeks ago? Who knows, but we’re probably one step closer to Kate Upton in a Zubaz bikini,” Student writes.

Look for Detroit to ride this hot streak into Cleveland Monday night. The Tigers face off against the Indians at 7:05 p.m. ET, and they will be more than ready to play come game time.

You don’t show up in Zubaz unless you’re ready to make statements.
