On Tuesday, Chile national team coach Jorge Sampaoli named his preliminary 30-man squad for the 2014 FIFA World Cup, as per La Tercera (in Spanish).
The squad was largely as expected, although the absences of Fiorentina midfielder David Pizarro and Monterrey striker Humberto Suazo are sure to raise eyebrows in some quarters.
Arturo Vidal and Eugenio Mena both make the cut even though they are currently sidelined with injuries. The pair are expected to recover in time to take part in the tournament.
Universidad Catolica defender Enzo Andia, Malmo wing-back Miiko Albornoz and O'Higgins midfielder Pablo Hernandez are among the lesser known players included.
Sampaoli will use his time with the squad to whittle his selection down to 23 for the tournament itself, but for now, here is our player-by-player guide to Chile's preliminary World Cup squad.
