Brandon Roy Wants Ronny Turiaf

Busta BucketJun 9, 2009

According to Wheels At Work, Brandon Roy would like to have Ronny Turiaf as Portland's back-up power forward. This of course is not big news per se—it really means nothing, since Brandon isn't likely to affect Kevin Pritchard's decision making to a major extent.

But for us at Bust a Bucket, guys who graduated from Gonzaga, we, of course, think that Brandon is right on the money.

If you've ever watched Ronny play, you know he's a very unselfish player. He has a knack for hitting the boards and can score off the pick and roll, shoot the J and even make his free throws.

Turiaf's major attribute for any NBA team is toughness. As our back-up power forward he'd provide a nice change of pace for the Blazers. Last year, when Frye came in the game I always just considered it LaMarcus lite.

But with Turiaf our bench would be tougher, more physical, and overall better balanced.

I don't think we'll get Turiaf, but the bottom line is a guy in his mold would be phenominal. Of course we also still need to figure out the small forward and point guard situations.

Plenty of work left to do!
