Transfer deadline day is upon us, and Dnipro's Yevhen Konoplyanka is a player in the news.
The jockeying for position is taking shape with Liverpool one of the teams in the frame for his signature.
For any further details about Konoplyanka's future plans with Dnipro, or elsewhere, be sure to check back here throughout the week.
Latest update: Friday, Jan. 31.
Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers concedes the deal to bring Yevhen Konoplyanka to the club is "complicated", but insists the winger is his only target for deadline day, as influential fans' website ThisIsAnfield.com reported.
The Reds are involved in talks with Dnipro for the Ukraine international. but time is not on Liverpool's side, Rodgers is quoted as saying:
There’s no update on Yevhen Konoplyanka. There’s an interest in the player, but we’ll see how it evolves. It’s a little complicated.
The staff over in Ukraine have done really well to put us in the position we’re in, but time is against us. We’ll see what happens.
We’re still building and growing the group so we’ll need a number of players, but January is a difficult market to do that in.
New players can come in and freshen up the group, but I’m happy with the players I’ve got if we don’t bring anyone in.
But let’s hope we can do something. Konoplyanka is the only signing there could be.
Tottenham head coach Tim Sherwood has paved the way for Liverpool to complete the signing of Yevhen Konoplyanka by insisting Spurs will not be doing any further business in the transfer window.
The North London had been strongly linked with a move for Anfield target Konoplyanka, as Chris Bascombe of the Daily Telegraph reported.
But Sky Sports reporter Jamie Weir reported that the White Hart Lane boss had told his pre-match press conference on Friday that there is "zero percent chance" of any further movement in and out of the club before the window closes.
Liverpool are on the verge of completing the deal for Yevhen Konoplyanka after Tottenham dropped out of the chase, according to Simon Jones of the Daily Mail.
Spurs have turned their attentions to landing Dimitar Berbatov from Fulham, leaving the Reds with a clear run at the Dnipro star.
Jones reports that a £15 million offer has been made and only the player's wage demands need to be agreed.
Liverpool could face competition from Tottenham for Konoplyanka, according to The Telegraph's Chris Bascombe.
The Reds sent a delegation headed by managing director Ian Ayre to thrash out a deal, but the move may not be cut and dry.
Bascombe has suggested Tottenham are ready to step in with a late bid to beat Liverpool to the signature of the winger.
Liverpool are firmly in the hunt for Konoplyanka, according to the player’s father.
The Independent's Charles Reynolds has picked up on the quotes from Konoplyanka's father, who has confirmed his son will definitely be leaving Ukraine.
I do not want to say specifically but the information about a transfer to the English club is true.
He can change clubs later this week. We do not consider offers from Ukraine.
