The Seattle Seahawks had their 12-game home winning streak as the favorite snapped last week, when Arizona came in and stole a win.

They'll look to get back on track this weekend against the upset-minded St. Louis Rams.

Rams-Seahawks point spread: Seahawks opened as 10-point favorites; the total was 43. (Line updates and matchup report)

Odds Shark computer prediction: 30.2-20.0 Seahawks

Why the Rams can cover the spread

St. Louis has a chance to get to .500, and even though it has to go to Seattle to get it done, this is about covering a double-digit spread. The Cardinals exposed weaknesses in Seattle's defensive game and laid the blueprint in how to defend Russell Wilson.

If the Rams can take away the deep game and attack the 'Hawks with a blitzing scheme and strong rushing defense, they can put Seattle's home-field advantage hopes in jeopardy.

Why the Seahawks can cover the spread

The top seed in the NFC is still in question, so there's no doubt the Seahawks will be taking this game seriously. The X-factor in this game is Seattle offensive tackle Russell Okung, who will be in protecting Wilson.

The left tackle was considered questionable early in the week after aggravating a toe injury last week versus the Cardinals. The fact that he returned to the game last week is a good sign for that O-line and Okung's matchup against Robert Quinn, a potential Defensive Player of the Year candidate.

Smart Pick

The UNDER is on a 6-1 run in this series, including earlier this season, when the Seahawks won 14-9 on Oct. 28. The UNDER is also on a 5-1 run when Seattle has faced divisional foes.

This should be a physical battle between two of the better defensive units in the league. Seattle's last three games have averaged 28.6 points, while it's stayed UNDER in four straight. The Rams' average is higher, but so were their posted totals.

They too have stayed UNDER in four consecutive games. This one should stay relatively low.

  • UNDER is 6-1 past seven meetings
  • Seahawks had 12-game home win streak as chalk snapped last week
  • UNDER is 5-1 past six Seahawks divisional games
