New York Mets: News and Notes From the End of May
Is Jose Reyes finally feeling better?
Reyes was in the Mets' clubhouse yesterday and departed after their 3-2 win over the Florida Marlins to return to Port St. Lucie Florida to prepare for a June 5 return against the Washington Nationals.
The Mets need Reyes right now, and in a bad way, they also need bench player Alex Cora is also returning this week after his stint on the DL with a thumb injury. Wilson Valdez, who was recently acquired from the Cleveland Indians, will most likely be sent to Triple-A Buffalo once both players return.

The injury bug bit again yesterday—this time to outfielder Angel Pagan. Pagan was running down a Hanley Ramirez blast in the fourth inning and felt a twinge in his groin.
Mets manager Jerry Manuel says he is not expecting good news from Pagan’s MRI results.
“I don’t think that’s a day-to-day deal,” Manuel said.
Pagan was starting in center field as Carlos Beltran was still battling a stomach virus.
Gary Sheffield extended his hitting streak to eight games and relief pitcher Pedro Feliciano pitched another perfect inning, giving him 13 straight appearances without an earned run.
