West Bromwich Albion's Youssouf Mulumbu might be headed to Arsenal to provide some defensive steel in midfield, according to The Guardian.

Their report contains some very surprising and provocative quotes from Mulumbu, who claims he has been approached by Arsenal and needs to move to a bigger club to advance his career.

I have had approaches from Arsenal. I could leave this winter. This is the right time for me to set my sights higher. I'm ready to join a top four club. We are not professional enough in the way we manage our games—for example our draw at Chelsea. We are not mature enough.

Mulumbu might be afforded the opportunity to move after speaking out so publicly—but very probably not to Arsenal.

The Gunners are already flush with quality in midfield and already have two defensive midfielders: the more technical Mikel Arteta and the more aggressive Mathieu Flamini. Jack Wilshere and Aaron Ramsey can deputize there, as well.
