Calgary Flames Head Coach Mike Keenan Fired: Who's In?
Calgary Flames head coach Mike Keenan was fired Friday by his eighth NHL team. He's also been sacked by the Philadelphia Flyers, New York Rangers, St.Louis Blues, Vancouver Canucks, Boston Bruins, and Florida Panthers.
Flames General Manager Darryl Sutter had this to say on the topic: "Our team did not meet expectations. Following detailed evaluation over the past three weeks and taking into consideration all factors affecting our season ending result, we believe this is a necessary change required to allow our team to continue toward our objective of winning the Stanley Cup."
The Flames were 46-30-6 last year, which earned them a fifth place in the Western Conference. The Flames were then eliminated in the first round by the current semi finalist team, the Chicago Blackhawks.

A good filler for the vacant job in Calgary could be Bob Hartley. I've personally met the man and he is a great inspiration to people, and knows that good work ethic and heart can go a long way.
Hartley was recently fired by the Atlanta Thrashers but has a long history behind him. He won the Stanley Cup with Roy and Drury back in 2001, and made it to the Western Conference Finals in 1999, 2000, 2001, and a quarterfinal appearance in 2007.
Hartley made the playoffs and got as far as the quarterfinals in five of his ten years as a head coach in the NHL, with one Stanley Cup victory.
