WWE 2K14's '30 Years of WrestleMania' Match Reveals, Pt. 2: New Generation

1 of 8

Hulkamania ran wild Monday, but now it's time for the New Generation. The second day of the match reveal for WWE 2K14's 30 Years of WrestleMania mode is here. As we continue our journey through all five eras of WrestleMania lore, Tuesday's list focuses on the Superstars who were charged with carrying the torch Hulk Hogan and others lit.

Among those spectacular performers was "The Heartbreak Kid" (HBK) Shawn Michaels. After a distinguished career as a tag team performer, HBK began to make his mark as a singles wrestler in the early 1990s.

He is one of two wrestlers who will appear in three matches during the New Generation era in the single-player campaign. Take a gander at the next seven matches gamers will be tasked to recreate in the 30 Years of WrestleMania mode.

WrestleMania 10: "HBK" Shawn Michaels vs. Razor Ramon

2 of 8

    When:

    March 20, 1994

    Where:

Madison Square Garden in New York

    Why It's Included:

Aside from being the first ever televised ladder match, this scrap also featured two of the WWF's best young Superstars in HBK and Razor Ramon. Both men displayed tremendous athleticism and toughness in this grueling bout. HBK would certainly have his time in the winner's circle, but sometimes it's cool to see "The Bad Guy" win.

WrestleMania 10: Bret "The Hitman" Hart vs. Yokozuna

3 of 8

    When:

    March 20, 1994

    Where:

Madison Square Garden in New York

    Why It's Included:

HBK vs. Razor Ramon wasn't the only classic match at WrestleMania 10. This episode of Bret Hart and Yokozuna's long feud saw "The Hitman" finally come out on top at WrestleMania. Both men were competing in their second matches of the night. After losing his title to Yokozuna at the previous WrestleMania, The Hitman prevailed and regained his belt.

WrestleMania 11: The Undertaker vs. King Kong Bundy

4 of 8

    When:

    April 2, 1995

    Where:

Hartford Civic Center in Hartford, Conn.

    Why It's Included:

As one of Taker's earliest battles during his undefeated WrestleMania streak, this match holds some significance. Taking on King Kong Bundy is a great challenge in itself, but considering the "Million Dollar Man" Ted DiBiase was in Bundy's corner and had taken Taker's urn prior to the match, this clash was about more than winning and losing.

You don't mess with the Dead Man's urn.

WrestleMania 11: Diesel vs. "HBK" Shawn Michaels

5 of 8

    When:

    April 2, 1995

    Where:

Hartford Civic Center in Hartford, Conn.

    Why it's Included:

Two of the WWE's brightest stars of mid-'90s squared off for the WWF title. Diesel, the WWF champion at the time, had come to the company as HBK's bodyguard, but their friendship had dissolved. Diesel defended the title against his former boss in an epic match that showed off the best from both men.

HBK's quickness, agility and dynamic moves took center stage, but Diesel's power and viciousness allowed him to hold on to the title.

WrestleMania 12: The Undertaker vs. Diesel

6 of 8

    When:

    March 31, 1996

    Where:

    Arrowhead Pond in Anaheim, Calif.

    Why It's Included:

If there is a match in the Undertaker's storied WrestleMania history that makes us say, "The Phenom could have taken the loss," it was this one against Diesel.

"Big Daddy Cool" seemed to have Undertaker battered and beaten after two jackknife powerbombs, but in typical Taker fashion, he would rise from the ashes to pull out the win.

WrestleMania 12: Bret "The Hitman" Hart vs. "HBK" Shawn Michaels

7 of 8

    When:

    March 31, 1996

    Where:

    Arrowhead Pond in Anaheim, Calif.

    Why It's Included:

If you consider yourself a wrestling fan/historian, this match has to be in your top five of all time. It is the famous Iron Man match that lasted more than an hour and actually spilled into overtime. HBK won his first of three WWF/WWE titles here, but it obviously wasn't easy.

This marathon contest featured arguably the two greatest in-ring technicians the WWE has ever seen. When the "Excellence of Execution" battles "Mr. WrestleMania" for more than 60 minutes with the title on the line, a classic is the result.

WrestleMania 13: Bret "Hitman" Hart Vs. "Stone Cold" Steve Austin

8 of 8

    When:

    March 23, 1997

    Where:

    Rosemont Horizon in Rosemont, Ill.

    Why It's Included:

Of all the wrestling matches I've ever seen, from a pure action and storytelling stand point, this tops my list. No titles were on the line, but the match further solidified Hart's place as an all-time great, and it launched Stone Cold Steve Austin's popularity into the next stratosphere.

Austin lost the match, but by refusing to tap out to the Sharpshooter, he passed out in a show of grit and defiance. This helped to make him the most charismatic superstar of his time.

From here, Austin would help usher in a whole new era in WWE history.
