Michigan State Basketball: Updates on Spartans' Top Recruiting Targets
Six players with 4-star or better credentials are being heavily recruited by Michigan State.
But there are just three scholarships.
Nonetheless, the Spartans stand to reel in a true blue chip who is capable of immediately contributing on both ends.
Tom Izzo has extended offers to players such as Jahlil Okafor, Cliff Alexander, Devin Booker, Tyus Jones and Kevon Looney, among others. His chances of getting one of his program's next greats look favorable.
5-Star C Jahlil Okafor
Jahlil Okafor wants to play college basketball with someone he knows.
Throughout his recruitment, the 6'10" Chicago Whitney Young Magnet center has expressed his desire of playing with Tyus Jones, who is also a top recruit of 2014.
But now, that may have changed.
Cliff Alexander, a 5-star recruit from Chicago Curie, told Josh Newman of ZagsBlog.com that he and Okafor "really want to be teammates in college."
According to Newman, Mike Irvin, coach of Alexander's Mac Irvin Fire, says that the pair would fit together.
So is it Alexander and Okafor now?
5-Star PF Cliff Alexander
According to 247Sports, Cliff Alexander has "warmer" interest in Michigan State...and Kansas.
Jahlil Okafor also has "warmer" interest in Kansas, per his 247 profile.
Alexander has been compared to Adreian Payne, a 6'10", 240-pound center with national player of the year skill.
Payne is a senior and the Spartans need the next nimble big man to take position. Alexander said he could do that. Fans are waiting for his decision.

Alexander's Twitter handle is @humblekid11. Did his re-tweet of the fan's comment further suggest that Alexander wants to fill the spot left by Payne?
5-Star SF Kevon Looney
And that's along with Jahlil Okafor and Tyus Jones.
That doesn't sound like good news for Tom Izzo, who frequently battles Blue Devils coach Mike Krzyzewski for top prospects.
Looney has Michigan State among his finalists, so all is not lost for Izzo just yet.
5-Star PG Tyus Jones
Mike Irvin, the AAU coach of Cliff Alexander and Jahlil Okafor, apparently has in the inside scoop on Tyus Jones' recruitment.
Jones is going to Duke, said Irvin to a Chicago Sun Times source (via the Star Tribune).
And so is Okafor.
Jones and Okafor? Alexander and Okafor?
Someone is teaming up with someone, that much is certain.
As is the case with Alexander and Okafor, Jones is being recruited by Kansas and Kentucky.
4-Star SG Devin Booker
Devin Booker may take longer than anyone to commit. He's taking the process slowly, helped by his father.
The 4-star shooting guard is the No. 29-ranked player of 2014, per 247Sports' scale.
Booker is quick to the ball, quick to the rim and has a great perimeter touch. At 6'6" and 194 pounds, he'd fill the void left by Gary Harris, a former 5-star shooting guard who is likely bound for the NBA after this season.
According to his 247 profile, Booker has "warm" interest in Michigan, Michigan State, Missouri, Duke and Florida.
