Arsenal Transfer Rumours: Gunners Smart to Consider £51 Million Luis Suarez Bid
If Arsene Wenger and Arsenal are serious about winning the Premier League and becoming big-time players on the Champions League stage this coming season, the club must go all-in on its next bid to land disgruntled Liverpool star Luis Suarez.
According to The Daily Star's David Woods and Adrian Kajumba on Thursday, the Gunners are prepared to do just that, reportedly getting set to launch a bid rumoured to be in the £51 million range:
"Starsport understands the Gunners are prepared to pay more than the £50 million Liverpool received from Chelsea for Fernando Torres in January 2011.

The eye-popping bid, if made, would heap significant pressure on Liverpool, especially with Suarez making it clear that he's upset with the club and his current situation at Anfield.
It's hard to imagine Liverpool turning down a bid of this magnitude considering Arsenal would be offering an incredible amount of money to essentially relieve Brendan Rodgers of a major distraction.
Sure, that distraction scored 23 goals and recorded eight assists for the Reds in 33 league appearances last season. But Suarez's attitude isn't conducive to winning matches and he's currently still serving a suspension for last season's biting incident.
Either way, Liverpool would have a difficult time rejecting a bid that impressive.
There's no doubt that Arsenal need a talent like Suarez if they are going to win titles next season. Robin van Persie's absence in the final third was noticeable last season, as no player scored more than 14 goals in league play.
Meanwhile, van Persie went on to lead the Premier League with 26 goals for Manchester United in 2012-13.
Suarez would provide Wenger with a go-to option up front, a complete player that could be called on not only to score, but create for teammates as well.
The Uruguayan star's undeniable impact is why Liverpool are so reluctant to part with him. But Arsenal can offer both Suarez and the Reds something they each covet. The opportunity to compete in the Champions League is high on Suarez's list, while a boatload of cash would allow Liverpool to reach out for top-tier talent before the window closes.
A £51 million bid would force Liverpool to either pull the trigger or throw away the gun on a potential Suarez-to-Arsenal transfer. And with time quickly running out in the summer transfer window, Wenger and the Gunners are smart to consider it.
