Juventus: 5 Most Important Players This Season

Matteo BonettiJun 8, 2018

Juventus is looking to continue their scintillating domestic form next season as they ride the wave of their recent success after winning two consecutive Scudetti.

Entering the summer, reinforcements were needed in Turin if the Bianconeri truly wanted to compete on the European level in 2013/14. Their lack of firepower up front was among the main reasons why the club were knocked out of the Champions League last year.

Let's take a look at the five most important Juventus players who will look to guide the team to another slew of trophies.

Carlos Tevez

1 of 5

Carlos Tevez joined Juventus this summer from Manchester City and looks to be the striker they've needed since Alessandro Del Piero migrated to Australia.

Having taken the famed No. 10 jersey, El Apache will certainly have many chances to find the back of the net, as he's surrounded by explosive wing-backs and one of the best midfield units in world football.

Paul Pogba

2 of 5

The 20-year-old French midfielder has become one of the most promising young starlets in Europe after joining Juventus last season from Manchester United.

Blessed with an imposing physique, athleticism and technical feet, Pogba will be a stalwart in the Bianconeri midfield for many years to come.

As hard as it is to find space in the crowded midfield composed of Andrea Pirlo, Claudio Marchisio, and Arturo Vidal, the fact that Juventus plays in multiple competitions means Pogba will get his chance once again to shine.

Andrea Pirlo

3 of 5

The now 34-year-old deep-lying playmaker is approaching the twilight of his illustrious career, but figures to have another season or two to give at the highest level.

Andrea Pirlo has had one of his best spells since joining from bitter rivals Milan, and the Juventus midfield simply ticks the perfect beat with him involved.

The new arrivals up front will look to take advantage of one of Pirlo's signature 40-meter lobs, which are often surgically delivered.

Expect Pirlo to be just as influential as he was last season.

Giorgio Chiellini

4 of 5

There aren't many defenders with the physical presence of Giorgio Chiellini.

His job at the back is to be an enforcer, to deliver the punishing blows and strike fear inside the hearts of opposing strikers.

His duels with Edinson Cavani and Zlatan Ibrahimovic have been well documented.

Chiellini is one of the main starters on the Bianconeri, and he'll have more quality depth behind him with the arrival of Angelo Ogbonna—another left-footed, versatile defender.

Arturo Vidal

5 of 5

What a revelation the Chilean midfielder has been since joining Juventus from Bayer Leverkusen.

Vidal is Juve's box-to-box presence. He can score with ease or slide into a well-timed defensive tackle.

His constant energy in the midfield allows Pirlo to sit back and spray passes over the length of the field, and he's a fan-favorite in Turin.
