Everton Transfer Tracker: Week of June 24 News and Rumours
Another week of the transfer window passes by without too much significant action for Everton supporters to get stuck into.
June is generally the quietest period of the summer, as the vast majority of players and managers tend to spend the month on a beach relaxing, away from the media glare.
However, the fact that July is now on the horizon should at least quicken things up a little, as clubs begin to prepare for the new season a little more rigorously.
Here is your weekly dose of transfer rumours and stories surrounding Everton. As usual, be sure to check back later in the week for further developments.
For those wishing to keep track of all Toffees-related links, you can find the first month of postseason rumours here and most of last week's transfer gossip here.
—LAST UPDATE: FRIDAY JUNE 28—
Redmond Prefers Everton
1 of 7FRIDAY JUNE 28
Birmingham's Nathan Redmond has apparently revealed he favours a move to Everton, according to The Mirror.
The England Under-21 international has a host of admirers, including Swansea and Norwich, but will wait to establish the Toffees' level of interest before deciding on his future.
To get him, Everton will need to pay around £2 million, which has already been offered by a couple of clubs.
United in for Baines
2 of 7THURSDAY JUNE 27
Today brought the news Evertonians have been dreading, the news that Leighton Baines is indeed a major target for Manchester United.
Rumours of a firm interest have been reported all summer, but it now appears official.
James Ducker broke the news in The Times (subscription required), and that news has since been distributed around most media outlets.
Ducker claims this first bid was £12 million, which is presumably well short of Everton's asking price. However, this does seem just the beginning of a possibly lengthy saga.
Everton Competing for Honda
3 of 7WEDNESDAY JUNE 26
Several rumours around Everton seem to be recurring at the moment, which can mean one of two things. Either there is so little to report on that media outlets are regurgitating the same information, or there is genuine interest in these reported targets.
Keisuke Honda is one of the names again being associated with the Toffees. The Mirror reported an Everton interest on Tuesday, claiming Roberto Martinez has been impressed while watching him at the Confederations Cup.
Kone Close to Signing?
4 of 7WEDNESDAY JUNE 26
Following on from another link to the club on Monday, the Daily Mail continue on with the Arouna Kone-to-Everton theme.
They describe how Hull City's Steve Bruce has abandoned his attempts to bring Kone to the KC Stadium as the Ivorian has "outlined a desire to join Everton".
Despite such frequent links in the media, it would still be a slightly peculiar and unusual move from Everton to splash out on a 29-year-old.
Newcastle Ahead in Race for Bony
5 of 7MONDAY JUNE 24
Everton's most pressing need this summer is undoubtedly up front, and one potential solution could be Vitesse Arnhem's prolific Wilfried Bony.
TalkSport describe how Newcastle have tabled a £12 million bid for the Ivorian, although Everton are supposedly among the clubs still monitoring the situation.
It seems impossible for the Toffees to make a move without first receiving funds from the sale of one of their own players, but it makes sense that a player such as Bony is at least on the club's radar.
McGeady Linked Again
6 of 7MONDAY JUNE 24
Those who have been following these Everton Transfer Trackers will have seen Aiden McGeady linked with the Toffees over the past few weeks.
Once again, the Irish winger is supposedly on the cusp of an Everton move, according to The Mirror.
The paper claim Roberto Martinez missed out on McGeady while at Wigan, having a £5 million offer rejected, and will now supposedly hand Spartak Moscow a £4 million offer to mull over.
Kone and Manga Chasing Everton?
7 of 7MONDAY JUNE 24
Another player connected with Everton a fair amount this summer is one of Martinez's former charges: Arouna Kone.
The Liverpool Echo highlight how he's actively looking for a new club and published some of the Ivorian's quotes from the weekend:
"I always have ambitions as a footballer and I don’t intend to play in the English second division.
"
The article goes on to report on Ecuele Manga also linking himself with Everton. The Lorient defender apparently revealed it would be a "dream" should the Toffees come in for him.
Such blatant come-and-get-me pleas rarely result in a transfer, but it's certainly another name to keep tabs on over the coming weeks.
