Ohio State Makes the Cut for 4-Star JUCO Prospect Jermaine Eluemunor

David RegimbalJun 8, 2018

When Urban Meyer signed just two true offensive linemen to Ohio State's 2013 class last February, he knew that recruiting big guys to play up front would be his top priority during the 2014 recruiting cycle.

Recruiting that position group is even more important with four soon-to-be senior starters (left tackle Jack Mewhort, left guard Andrew Norwell, center Corey Linsley and right guard Marcus Hall) set to play their last season for the Buckeyes.

Meyer is already off to a great start with verbal pledges from a pair of 4-star prospects in Kyle Trout (offensive tackle) and Marcelys Jones (offensive guard), but the Buckeyes are still after a number of highly rated recruits.

One of those targets—4-star offensive tackle Jermaine Eluemunor—announced his top six schools Monday afternoon, and the Buckeyes made the cut. Eluemunor made the announcement via Twitter:

"

And my top 6 is..... twitter.com/TheMainShow_/s…

— jermaine eluemunor (@TheMainShow_) May 27, 2013"

The other five schools listed—Alabama, Arkansas, Ole Miss, UCLA and USC—were whittled down from a group of nearly 20 programs who have made offers to the 4-star prospect.

Eluemunor, a JUCO prospect out of Lackawanna College in Scranton, Pa., will be eligible to play for the school he commits to right away. His transition to the collegiate game should be easier because of that, and with the Buckeyes' pending needs along the offensive line in 2014, Eluemunor could see immediate playing time in Columbus.

Ohio State is also after offensive line prospects like 5-star tackles David Sharpe and Damian Prince, 4-star tackles Jamarco Jones and Chad Mavety and 4-star guards Demetrius Knox and Braden Smith.

The Buckeyes are at or near the top of the list for all of the recruits listed above, so Meyer is certainly working hard to build the depth in the trenches for Ohio State.

If Meyer can somehow land Eluemunor, though, he could be signing a potential starter for the 2014 Ohio State team.
