Now that the WWE is two weeks removed from the Extreme Rules pay-per-view, Monday will be the company’s chance to close any lingering feuds left over from the last show and begin building to June’s big event.
Payback is already less than a month away, and while the main events are already starting to take form (John Cena vs. Ryback), the build to the next PPV for secondary storylines and angles must begin immediately if the WWE wants this show to be deemed a success.

The WWE Universe is still coming down from the excitement surrounding Extreme Rules and the fallout on Raw, but the company’s transition into building for the next PPV kicks into high gear Monday.
Wrestling fans won’t want to miss this.
Where: Scotiabank Saddledome, Calgary, Alberta, Canada
When: Monday, May 27, at 8 p.m. ET
Watch: USA Network
When the WWE announced that Monday’s Raw from Calgary would feature a Bret Hart appreciation ceremony, there was a genuine hope from the fans that it would be televised and incorporated into the actual broadcast.
Instead of using Hart to help get over a younger star or using him to draw serious heat to one of the company’s newer heels, the WWE has decided to make the celebration post-Raw so people watching on TV can’t enjoy it, according to WWE.com.
You can still watch the ceremony, though, as long as you download the WWE App and continue to watch the product an additional 30 minutes.
As if over 180 minutes of wrestling wasn’t enough.
Paul Heyman Hits The Highlight Reel
After dominating the wrestling world as the manager for both CM Punk and Brock Lesnar, Paul Heyman will take his mic abilities to the ring Monday in an exclusive interview with Chris Jericho on his show, The Highlight Reel. The WWE Universe should expect to see Curtis Axel in this segment as the company continues to build the character.
Question on Everyone’s Mind: Will Chris Jericho Lose to Axel?
There is no question that Jericho has been a huge asset for the WWE by putting over the younger talent whenever asked. With Axel needing any rub he can possibly get in order for the fans to buy what he’s selling, Monday would be the perfect chance for an impromptu fight and another momentous win over a former world champion.
Hype Meter: 5 out of 5 Heyman vs. Y2J Promos
While Axel is admittedly bland looking and not great on the mic, the fact that the fresh face has the support of the people backstage and the lineage of a legend means he has a chance to be great. Add in the fact that both Jericho and Heyman will go to bat for Axel on Monday, and this is a future star of the company that fans must start supporting.

The Shield And Team Hell No on a Collision Course
After watching Dean Ambrose beat Kofi Kingston to successfully retain the United States Championship, the focus has shifted to Seth Rollins and Roman Reigns and whether the talented duo will represent The Shield and beat Team Hell No in a rematch.
Question on Everyone’s Mind: Will the Rematch Happen Monday?
The WWE has been building up the tension between Daniel Bryan and Kane since the tag team lost their titles, and with Bryan’s out-of-control attitude, there is a chance that this feud with The Shield comes to a boiling point tonight and the title rematch is made for Raw. The better option would be to continue building the tension and have the rematch at Payback.
Hype Meter: 5 out of 5 PPV Quality Matches
Team Hell No has been involved in a feud with The Shield for months—fought alongside Ryback in an attempt to stop the trio at the TLC PPV—but losing the titles has caused Bryan to snap. With many fans calling for Bryan to channel his more aggressive side, this new attitude and in-ring style makes another potential match a dream come true.
