Sergio Garcia Goes Off on Tiger Woods Again, Calls Him a Liar
Just when you thought this beef stew was sliding toward the back burner, Chef Sergio plows through the door with a blow torch.
The lukewarm grumblings between Tiger Woods and Sergio Garcia last week are now threatening to blossom into a full-on war of words. Everyone thought the two golfers would’ve cooled off by now, but judging by the statements Garcia made to members of the media Tuesday, someone’s still feeling salty (via CBS Sports).
In his first media appearance since losing to Woods at the Players Championship, Garcia went off, throwing down the gauntlet on Tiger.
Sergio commented, "He called me a whiner. He’s probably right. But that’s also probably the first thing he’s told you guys that’s true in 15 years. I know what he’s like. You guys are finding out.”
Whoa. What just happened here?
This is a feud that has been simmering for over a decade. You would think Garcia might try to move on from the whole Woods beef—especially since he hasn't threatened Tiger's spot in the winner's circle since 2000—but he decided to launch another Sergio offensive.
That was it, though, right? Garcia didn’t start burning bridges, saying he would never consider calling Woods to patch things up, did he?
Oh, he did.
Reporters mentioned to Sergio that Tiger had told members of the media Monday that he will not reach out to him in order to end the beef.
Garcia’s response? He doesn’t care.
“First of all, I don’t have his number,” Garcia told reporters. “And secondly, I did nothing wrong and don’t have anything to say to him. And he wouldn’t pick up the phone anyway. But that’s okay, I don’t need him as a friend...Like I have always said, I try to be as truthful as possible. Tiger doesn’t make a difference to my life.”
There you have it: Woods is a liar and a shady character who is not worth Sergio's cell phone minutes.
The soup's on, Tiger. Now, the question is, how do you like your beef?
