After taking home the Europa League trophy and finishing third in the Premier League table, Chelsea fans were given some good reasons to cheer at the close of this season.
A long, football-free summer is on its way and there is not a fan out there who is not looking forward to the start of next season.
However, Chelsea fans have some very good reasons to be particularly excited about next season. And since it cannot start tomorrow (however much we want it to), let's whet our appetites by going over five of them.
For a long time it looked as though Chelsea's record goalscorer was on his way out of Stamford Bridge.
Chelsea fans had been long protesting the club's failure to reward the Chelsea legend with a new contract so it goes without saying that they were thrilled to hear the announcement that Lampard was given a one-year contract extension.
There is not a Chelsea fan out there who is not excited to settle in for at least one more season with Super Frank.
After seeing the club finish the season with one trophy and qualification for next year's Champions League, Chelsea fans are ready to part terms with Rafael Benitez on a high note.

Possible additions include Romelu Lukaku, who may or may not return from his loan to West Brom; Andre Schurrle, who has been linked to Chelsea on multiple occasions; and Radamel Falcao, who is constantly being surrounded by transfer rumors.
But even if no players join Chelsea this summer, fans can take encouragement from the way that the current squad finished the season. Even without any additions, it is clear that, with the right manager, Chelsea has a group of players that is capable of winning things.
The Blues started this season with a charge to the top of the table, but it was a position that was soon relinquished. They proceeded to slowly fall out of every competition until they eventually won the Europa League.
The best thing about the start of a new season is that, once again, they'll be able to compete in every major competition.
Chelsea will be in charge of their own fate.
