Jimmie Johnson is having quite the week.
Johnson picked up his second win of the season last Sunday at Martinsville. It was a race that he and the No. 48 team dominated. Aside from winning the race, Johnson also moved back atop the points standings.
He currently holds a six-point lead over second-place driver Brad Keselowski.
This year marks Johnson's quest for his sixth Sprint Cup Championship. A sixth title would put him one behind NASCAR legends Richard Petty and Dale Earnhardt. No driver in the history of NASCAR has ever won eight championships.
Johnson's win at Martinsville was his eighth career win at the track. Those eight wins have him ranked third all time on the Martinsville win list. The only drivers ahead of Johnson on that list are Darrell Waltrip (11 victories) and Richard Petty (15 victories).
Not too shabby, right?
Johnson's week became even more awesome when he received some exciting news from his wife. He took to Twitter to announce that he and his wife, Chandra, are expecting their second child. Johnson also took this opportunity to express the excitement of his daughter.
We are so happy to share news that we're having another baby in September. Genevieve is so excited to be a big sister!— Jimmie Johnson (@JimmieJohnson) April 9, 2013
This is wonderful news for the Johnson family. The couple's first child, Genevieve, nicknamed "Evie," will be turning three in July.
There is no word yet on whether or not Johnson and Chandra have begun the name selection process for the newest member of their family.
This news is the continuation of what has been a terrific start to the 2013 season for Johnson. As he and the No. 48 team head into Texas this Sunday, he leads the circuit in wins.
Johnson has won two of the first six races this season. His first win of the season came at the 2013 Daytona 500.
