Beatty played at Connecticut, the only Division One school to offer him a scholarship.  His parents are both pastors.

 

Rhett Bomar-QB-Sam Houston St.

While at Oklahoma, Bomar violated NCAA rules by receiving money from a dealership without completing any work.

 

Ron Brace-DT Boston College

Brace was asked by Detroit Lions officials what he used to eat at McDonalds during his high school years, considering he is around 330 pounds.  Brace responded by saying he didn't remember and that he would be lying if he said he didn’t eat there.

 

Eben Britton-OT-Arizona

Britton’s grandmother won an Oscar for her role in Bonnie and Clyde.

 

Gerald Cadogan-OT-Penn St.

Cadogan has released two gospel albums.

 

Aaron Curry-LB-Wake Forest

Curry was only offered football scholarships at East Carolina and Wake Forest.

 

Louis Delmas-S-Western Michigan

Delmas was raised by his friend E.J. Bigger’s family, after his parents walked out on him.

 

Percy Harvin-WR-Florida

Harvin is from the same Virginia neighborhood as Lawrence Taylor, Michael Vick and DeAngelo Hall.

 

Evander Hood-DT-Missouri

Hood is nicknamed “Ziggy” from his favorite cartoon character, since his grandmother could not pronounce Evander. 

 

Rashad Jennings-RB-Liberty

Jennings transferred from Pittsburgh to move closer to his father suffering from diabetes.

 

Herman Johnson-OG-LSU

Johnson redshirted his freshman year, due to a spider bite getting infected on his big toe.

 

Paul Kruger-DE-Utah

Kruger had surgery and was in critical condition after getting stabbed while leaving a house party in January 2008.

 

James Laurinaitis-MLB-Ohio St.

Laurinaitis is the son of former professional wrestler Animal from the Legion of Doom.

 

Jordan Norwood-WR-Penn St.

Norwood’s father is Baylor’s defensive coordinator, his brother was part of the George Mason Final Four basketball team.

 

Michael Oher-OT-Ole Miss

Oher was the subject of Michael Lewis’ bestselling book “The Blind Side.”

 

B.J. Raji-DT-Boston College

Raji’s younger brother currently plays for Boston College’s basketball team.

 

Duke Robinson-OG-Oklahoma

Robinson is the great nephew to Motown singer Smokey Robinson.

 

Brian Robiske-WR-Ohio St.

Robiske’s father is the Atlanta Falcons wide receivers coach.

 

Jason Smith-OT-Baylor

Smith will be the first Baylor player drafted in the first round since Daryl Gardner was selected in 1996.

 

Matthew Stafford-QB-Georgia

Stafford won a high school 4A Championship at Highland Park High School in 2005, the same high school attended by former Detroit Lions Bobby Layne and Doak Walker.  The 2005 Championship was their first since 1957.
