As you look back in history, Tom Benson hired and fired a lot of coaches in his time. He never smiled very much with all of his other coaches, shook hands, or even hugged them as much as he does with Sean Payton.

My belief is that he has finally found his coach he has been looking for all of these 40 years. Tom Benson is not an easy going man and to be honest, filling the shoes of New Orleans Saint's Football Coach are pretty darn tough. Just look at the past coaches and how long they coached with the team.

Tom Fears 1967-1970      three seasons
J.D. Roberts 1970-1972   two seasons
John North 1973-1975      two seasons
Ernie Hefferle 1975           1/2 season
Hank Stram 1976-1977    one season
Dick Nolan 1978-1980       two seasons
Dick Stanfel 1980               1/2 season
Bum Phillips 1981-1985    four seasons
Wade Phillips 1985            1/2 season
Jim Mora 1986-1996         10 seasons
Rick Venturi 1996               1/2 season
Mike Ditka 1997-1999        two seasons
Jim Haslett 2000-2005      five seasons
Sean Payton 2006-             present

The only real consistency in coaching that the Saints have had would be with one, and that was Jim Mora, who only brought the Saints to one really notable playoff season and they lost in the first round.
The Saints, as everyone knows, has never gone to a Superbowl. I feel that between chemistry and team work the Saints are close to breaking that wall and will soon make history. So all I can say for now is, Sean keep working your magic with Benson, keeping him out of the final decision making areas.
Lets bring these Saints' fans a Superbowl.
