Georgia Bulldogs Football: A Look At 2010 Prospect Mack Brown

Kimberley NashSenior Writer IApril 9, 2009

I realize we just signed a stellar 2009 recruiting class at Georgia, but I am always thinking ahead to the next year.

A key prospect for 2010 is running back Mack Brown out of Stone Mountain, GA.

He already has offers from twenty different FBS schools (Georgia, Florida, Michigan, and Alabama to name a few), and will likely see more as the year progresses. He doesn't have a front-runner as of yet, but Georgia is definitely in his top three.

Brown is 5'11" and weighs around 180 lbs. He is described as the complete back, possessing all the skills to make him one very dangerous runner. Last season he ran for 1,712 yards and 22 touchdowns in 11 games.

As of now, the Dawgs have quite a bevy of talent in their backfield; Caleb King, Richard Samuel, Carlton Thomas, Dontavius Jackson, and Washaun Ealey. The competition for the starting spot is essentially locked up if Caleb King can make the most of his opportunities.

All of these players are underclassmen, and you have to imagine that will figure into Brown's decision to choose the Red and Black.

However, he seems to be interested in Georgia regardless of the backfield's depth, and that has to be a good thing for the Dawgs.

I know it doesn't matter right now because National Signing Day for 2010 is a world away right now and most of us are centered on the big G-Day game this weekend, but as I said, I love to look ahead and this in-state talent is looking like the real thing.

Call me greedy, but I never think we have enough talent at running back. One needs only go back to 2004 to be reminded of what it means to have good guys to fill-in the holes that injuries leave behind.

We'll see how it all shakes out, but keep an eye out for this guy, he may shine even brighter next year. Here's a little video of him in action.

As for the G-Day game, well, look for the rabid fan decked out in the 'G' outfit....wait, that will be quite a few of us. In that case, all I will say is GOOOOOO DAAWWWWGSS!
