WWE Royal Rumble 2013 Results : 7 Huge New Rivalries We Could See Going Forward
Sunday night’s Royal Rumble was not full of surprises, but it could have a big impact on the future.
More specifically, it could have a big impact on huge new rivalries between Superstars.
Whether it is because one Superstar eliminated another in the Rumble match, having a brotherly hatred toward one another or because of continuous attacks, new rivalries will begin.
Should The Rock seek revenge on The Shield? Will the eliminations of Wade Barrett and Bo Dallas lead to a feud?
What new rivalries will begin based on the results of WWE Royal Rumble 2013?
Here are seven huge new rivalries we could see going forward.
Goldust vs. Cody Rhodes

This is the third article in the last two weeks in which I discuss this huge new rivalry between the two sons of WWE Hall of Famer Dusty Rhodes.
However, this time there is more to discuss as we saw Goldust and Cody Rhodes in action against one another in the Royal Rumble match.
This is a rivalry that sort of began last year when Cody was feuding with Goldust’s former partner, Booker T. However, Goldust’s shoulder was not 100 percent and therefore he was unable to continue the feud.
Hopefully this is a rivalry that is just beginning.
Wade Barrett vs. Rey Mysterio

During the Royal Rumble match, Rey Mysterio was eliminated by the current WWE Intercontinental Champion, Wade Barrett.
Could this be the beginning of a new rivalry?
Rey Mysterio has been a great mentor for Sin Cara as they are one team that has really helped revitalize the division. However, the team has not been successful in capturing the tag team titles.
Mysterio is towards the end of his career and may be a great opponent to help build Wade Barrett to be a top star moving forward.
Mysterio is definitely not at the main-event level anymore, but that doesn’t mean he can’t be in contention for a midcard title.
Wade Barrett vs. Bo Dallas

If WWE decides to keep Rey Mysterio in a tag team or move into a feud with Sin Cara, Bo Dallas would be a great new rival for Wade Barrett.
Dallas won an NXT tournament to qualify for the Royal Rumble and even eliminated Wade Barrett. Unfortunately, Barrett came back for revenge and eliminated the rookie.
A rivalry or feud between Barrett and Dallas would be very entertaining as both youngsters are expected to be a big part of the future in WWE.
Bo Dallas comes from a family of wrestlers as his father is Mike Rotunda, aka I.R.S., and his brother is Bray Wyatt, aka Husky Harris.
Barrett and Dallas’s rivalry may have already begun at the Royal Rumble.
Ryback vs. Randy Orton
Although Randy Orton has yet to turn heel, Ryback could be a great rival for the Viper.
Randy Orton was eliminated by Ryback, which could help begin a feud between the two. A number of feuds in WWE begin by one Superstar eliminating the other in the Rumble match.
Ryback and Orton are two of the top stars in the WWE today, making for an excellent feud similar to Orton and Sheamus. Ryback is much more over with the audience than Sheamus, which is the main reason why this rivalry would be better.
It may be dependent on Randy Orton turning heel though.
Kofi Kingston vs. Tensai
Kofi Kingston was at it again at the Royal Rumble this year with his acrobatic ways of staying in the match. It was with Tensai’s help, though, that Kofi was able to keep himself in the Rumble temporarily.
Tensai was also eliminated by the former Intercontinental Champiom, which could cause for tension between the two.
Tensai’s new gimmick has not worked out well at all. The Superstar formerly known as Albert and A-Train cannot seem to win many matches these days.
Kingston had been very successful for a while as a tag team champion as well as Intercontinental champion. However, since losing the latter belt to Wade Barrett, Kofi has been treated very similarly to Tensai.
Which jobber would out-job the other?
The Rock vs. the Shield
Although The Rock was able to walk away victorious after the Royal Rumble, he may still want to settle the score with The Shield.
Twice now The Shield has attacked The Rock and left him laying to rest. Despite not losing to CM Punk, shouldn’t The Rock still want revenge?
All signs point to The Rock holding the title until WrestleMania and dropping it to John Cena. Until then, he may continue to feud with CM Punk.
A feud between The Rock and The Shield is quite intriguing. The Rock is still a solid veteran who can put on a great show. The Shield, on the other hand, is a group of Superstars who are just beginning their careers.
This reminds me of when The Rock joined Mick Foley against Evolution, although Evolution was made up of past, present and future stars.
Mr. McMahon vs. Paul Heyman
Mr. McMahon has toned down his active role in WWE as of late, but on Monday Night Raw, he will call out Paul Heyman for a performance review.
Is Heyman in danger of being future endeavored?
Or is a new rivalry about to begin?
It can be argued that Heyman and McMahon have feuded in the past. Whether it was when Heyman was running the original ECW company or while employed with WWE.
However, things are different now.
Heyman is no longer running any organizations, but simply acting as a manager to Punk and previously Brock Lesnar.
Could we see a McMahon vs. Heyman match soon?
The Road to WrestleMania is upon us, and while some feuds have begun a long time ago, new rivalries are just beginning.
They are just beginning in time to set up a huge match on the grandest stage of them all.
Will Goldust get his wish of a WrestleMania match with his brother?
