WWE News: The Rock Injured by the Shield After Last Night's Raw

Luis CamposJan 22, 2013

The Shield's latest victim, The Rock, seems to have been injured after Dean Ambrose, Seth Rollins and Roman Reigns attacked "The People's Champion" during his promo on the latest edition of Monday Night Raw.

Following the Shield's attack, The Rock began to spit blood into the ring.

James Wortman of WWE.com is reporting that the blood was the result of "internal injuries."

Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson tweeted the following about the "injuries."

"

Diagnosis: Internal bleeding - lungs. Torn blood vessels. Thank U @wwe Universe. Just part of the job - I'll be good. #JustBringIt

"

Ultimately, it looks like The Rock is fine and will be able to compete against CM Punk during this Sunday's Royal Rumble pay-per-view, but the Shield's attack on the Rock will not go unnoticed.

According to the WWE.com article, as a result of The Shield's attack on the Rock, "Mr. McMahon has added a new stipulation to Sunday’s WWE Championship Match: If The Shield interfere in this bout on Punk’s behalf in any way, “The Best in the World” will be stripped of his title."

This latest match stipulation adds an interesting twist to this Sunday's WWE Championship match.

Since making their WWE debut during last year's Survivor Series, the Shield has been instrumental in allowing CM Punk to retain his WWE Championship.

Will CM Punk be able to retain his WWE Championship without the Shield's aid? After holding his title for over 400 days could CM Punk finally be dethroned by a supposedly injured Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson?

Despite the WWE's detailed report of the Rock's injury, there are still some questions to be answered.

Was The Rock really hurt or is this a work to promote the match on Sunday?
